Gloriously powerful and full of emotion Mindy celebrates AAPI Heritage Month with Am I Alive
Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month aims to raise awareness of the contributions Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made to history as well as the culture and development of the USA during May. Just in time to celebrate Mindy, who is a Korean-American singer/songwriter and producer has released her brand new single titled Am I Alive taken from her upcoming debut solo EP ‘Version 1.27’ that deals with themes of her struggles with violence and the endless cycle that she can sometimes feel trapped in.
This electronic pop anthem is the perfect start to summer with its opening baseline reminiscent of a Joy Division riff and vocals that hit the soul with both softness and passion. The backing track itself feels stripped back whilst also having elements of complication making the song feel fresh and vibrant, if 80’s vibes mixed with Wolf Alice is your thing then Am I Alive is definitely a track you need to be adding to your playlists.
The track as a whole feels sublimely sophisticated with a bedroom indie-pop feel thrown in giving it an inviting and comforting undertone that makes it a real stand out over any recently released tracks. From just listening to Am I Alive you get a real feel for the drive and love that Mindy has, this track makes you fall in love with music all over again.
