Logo: Taken from website

Here’s everything you should be picking up online from Southsea’s Pie and Vinyl record shop this January.

Pie and vinyl is a bit of a local institution in Portsmouth and Southsea, ask any local music lover and they’ll tell you the record café is one of the best things about the city weather you’ve dug through the records in the cafe or picked up a pie at Victorious Festival even Tim Burgess hails it as one of his favourite record shops. It’s never been more important to support your local record shops so with that in mind I’m going to show you everything I got from their online shop and some other bits you should be saving up for to!

Fleetwood Mac – Rumours

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac is undoubtedly one of the most influential albums of all time. The record features classic tracks such as Dreams and The Chain, the icon that is Stevie Nicks is a major part of the representation of women in the music industry, this album is a must for any record collection.

Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent – Album Cover

Lewis Capaldi – Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent

He’s one of the biggest pop powerhouses of the last few years and Lewis Capaldi’s set over on the castle stage at Victorious Festival last year will undoubtedly go in the history books as one of the most magical and crowd-pleasing sets on the south coast. As well as breaking records Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent is filled to the brim with emotion and beautifully honest songwriting and features the smash hits Someone You Loved and Before You Go.

A Hero’s Death – Album Cover

Fontaines D.C. – A Hero’s Death

A Hero’s Death is in short a poetic musical triumph. This post punk album is the second instalment from Ireland’s Finest, Fontaine’s D.C. that packs an almighty punch with songs such as I Don’t Belong and Televised Mind this album is bold, exhilarating and powerful from start to finish and it’s definitely one you’ll need in your collection that will most probably become a staple.

Combat Sports – Album cover

The Vaccines – Combat Sports

It’s no secret that The Vaccines are one of my favourites nor is it a secret that I live in my Combat Sports t-shirt that I brought from Victorious Festival last year but what makes this album so great? The anthemic choruses and instant energy boosting melodies make Combat Sports the embodiment of rock and roll. Tracks such as I Can’t Quit and Out On the Street are some of my highlights from the album but you’ll want to pick this up to decide your favourite!

Price: £19.99

Evering Road – Album cover

Tom Grennan – Evering Road

Available to pre-order, Evering Road is Tom Grennan’s second album due for release in March. It features the already released singles This Is The Place and Little Bit of Love among others. This second instalment is shaping up to be one of the best albums of 2021 so pre-ordering a copy is a must if you want to make sure you’ve got it on release and it’s also a great way of supporting record shops in these tough times.

Price: 23.99 (Limited Edition Transparent Blue Vinyl)

That concludes everything I brought from Pie and Vinyl’s online store but make sure you have a look on the website yourself because there’s much more to be found including the likes of Foals and The Stone Roses. Supporting independent record stores is so crucial any time of the year but particularly in these times so make sure you’re shopping local as much as you can!
