For fans of: First Aid Kit, Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros and Celeste

Charity Stow – Fool: Press Release

For fans of: Amy Winehouse and Duffy.

Charity Stow is singer-songwriter hailing from Stamford but has since left the small town and is now based in Nottingham. She comes from a musical family meaning music has always been a large part of her life. Charity has an incredibly beautiful voice reminiscent to Celeste or Adele whilst still retaining originality.

Charity honed her sound with help and guidance from her father Jack. They are both self taught musicians, which explains her determination and intuitive attitude towards music.

Charity says her songwriting has been shaped by the classics, such as Carole King, Bob Dylan and The Beatles which would explain why I was so blown away by her new single.

As soon as I pressed play on the song I was instantly reminded me of artists such as Amy Winehouse.

‘Fool’ is the name of Charity’s brand new single, It has a blissful acoustic backing track that perfectly compliments her unique dulcet tones. As soon as I pressed play on the song I was instantly reminded me of artists such as Amy Winehouse, Celeste and surprisingly country bands such as Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros and First Aid Kit.

The song itself has a mix of old and new with Jazz, Country and contemporary in one. To me ‘Fool’ explores the subject of heartbreak which is something most if not all of us can relate to and Charity’s songwriting really shines through particularly in the chorus lines such as“ I’m not such a fool, not playing by the rules, I’m just holding back the strength you think I lack”

The song has a clear path and takes you on a refreshing but familiar journey that makes the listener feel like they could be in a coffee shop on a rainy day looking out the window as it plays softly in the background. The imagery the song paints in your mind is nothing short of whimsical which is always the mark of an amazing songwriter.

Songwriting is a form of therapy for Charity and you can hear this through the honesty of her lyrics and passion behind the tracks. Charity is finding her own place in the music scene and is creating a unique sound through which to channel her experiences and I can’t wait to hear more from her in the future.
